Internationally, business and travel are paid for with dollars, euros and several other currencies.  The Korean won is used only in the Republic of Korea.  

The Korean won is minted and printed by the government in denominations of 1,000, 5,000, 10,000 and 50,000 won notes and 1, 10, 50, 100 and 500 won coins.  

Most of these notes and coins portray likenesses of historically important Korean people.  There is additionally a 100,000 won check printed by banks.  

Interestingly, in this modern, high-tech era, many financial transactions are conducted digitally.
