[우먼컨슈머= 존발렌타인] “Charity” 자선

What’s mine is mine and I’ve earned it!  Why would I work hard and invest my time and energy and then give my earnings away as charity?  

That is an age-old question and the answer is illogical.  It is the good nature of humankind to extend a helping hand.  It’s a personal economic sacrifice, for sure.  

Speaking of charity, what becomes of those “loose-change” jars in convenience stores and supermarkets?  Let’s hope that charity finds its way into the proper hands.

내 것은 내 것이고 그것은 내가 얻은 것이다! 왜 내가 열심히 일하고 시간과 에너지를 투자해서 벌어들인 돈을 자선단체로 기부해야하나? 

그것은 해묵은 질문이며 답은 비논리적이다. 도움의 손길을 뻗치는 것은 인류의 좋은 본성이다. 그것은 확실히 개인적인 경제적 희생이다. 

자선에 대한 말이나온 김에, 편의점과 슈퍼마켓에 있는 “잔돈” 항아리들은 어떻게 될까? 자선이 올바른 방향으로 들어가기를 바란다.
