It’s nice to get a discount. Even when it’s time to pay taxes, sometimes you can get a discount. One kind of discount is a “deductible”. The word “deduct” means to “take away”.
If something is deductible, then it is able to be taken away. You earn money and you pay taxes based on that amount.
However, if you spend money for something that the government decides that you can have a tax benefit for, that item is deductible. You may “take away” from your tax bill.
할인을 받으면 좋다. 심지어 때로는 세금을 낼 때도 할인을 받을 수 있다. 할인의 한 종류가 “공제 가능” 이다. “공제”라는 단어는 “제거”를 의미한다.
공제 가능한 것이 있으면 뺄 수 있다. 돈을 벌고 그 액수에 대한 세금을 낸다.
그러나 정부가 세금 혜택을 받을 수 있다고 결정한 것에 돈을 썼다면 해당 항목은 공제 대상이다. 납입고지서에서 “제거”할 수 있다.
