Banks use the word “interest” when talking about percentages.

If you save money in a bank, your reward is a low percentage.  Banks have only a little interest in that.

If you borrow money from a bank, the bank’s reward is a high percentage.  They have more interest in that.

This word “interest” is not about curiosity.  It’s about how valuable a bank feels about their relationship with you.

Banks don’t value the idea that you earn money.  They much more value earning profit from you.
